Specification

Context:
Aesthetics- As the product will be suitable for the Tron Legacy set, it should be representative of the style and theme of the Tron brand. It should be aesthetically pleasing and must be finished to a high quality.
Target Market- This would most likely be more suitable for teenagers and young adults but has a wider market, being any fans or viewers of Tron Legacy.

Requirements:
Function- The amplifier should be useable with portable mp3 players and be able to play sound to an audible level and of adequate quality. It must be easy to use. Preferably, it should be possible to remove and change the battery and turn it on and off to preserve power.
Size- Although there are no specific dimensions to limit the amplifiers size, it should be small enough to be portable/hand-held.
Weight- Again, there is no specific weight limit but it should be as light weight as possible, again to be portable.
Durability- The amplifier should be durable and sturdy enough to be able to be carried around, thrown in a bag, dropped and any thing else a portable device could ordinarily go through.

Manufacture:
Process- The amplifier is to be made using CAM processes (either the CNC machine or a layering technique with Boxford software and the laser cutter). This should be kept in mind during the design stages, to keep away from anything too intricate or any shape that would not be possible to cut.
Cost- Keeping in mind that this a prototype for a product that would be a promotional give away the cost should be kept to an absolute minimum.
Materials- There are acoustic advantages to using wood rather than plastic and as costing is also an issue, jelutong should make up a large percentage of the prototype. Extra detailing could be added later using other materials.
